The Problem

Seating arrangements in public spaces can cause social discomfort, anxiety and overwhelming stress due to cognitive load — reducing the joy of a weekend outing. Conventional plastic furniture also carries a heavy carbon and waste footprint.

The Design

Stance uses bio-based polycarbonate from cornstarch, addressing tariff tensions and plastic waste. Its origami-inspired design folds into a backrest and legs with minimal manufacturing complexity. The transparent form suits offices, libraries and exhibitions.
